An Evening of Music and Chanting by Candlelight with Jack Harrison | 9 Dec 2023 | 7.30pm - 9pm | Cork City
In this gathering we will come together by candlelight to sing and chant with musician, Jack Harrison. As winter draws our attention inwards, this evening of heartfelt music invites you to connect with your own self and the power of your own voice, as well as being nourished by the medicine of gathering together in community.
Jack Harrison has been a musician, folklorist and yoga teacher for the past thirty years, and has integrated these paths together in the Celtic School of Yoga. He is the principal author of a book that draws on the parallels between yoga and the Celtic world. Jack has produced three widely acclaimed albums of yoga music. His music is inspired by both the Yogic and Celtic traditions, as well as his love for the natural world. Singing in Sanskrit, Gaeilge and English, Jack’s music weaves together Kirtan chant, Irish folk and trad, and gospel music.
Kirtan is a call and response chanting. It is a form of meditation that involves repeating certain chants that can support us in calming our mind, connecting with our hearts, experiencing the power of our own voice and feeling our connection with one another. You are welcome to join in the singing or sit back and enjoy listening to the music. All are welcome and no prior experience is needed.
This event takes place at 4 Tuckey Street, Cork, a beautiful soul space in the heart of Cork city. You are welcome to stay afterwards for tea and homemade biscuits.
Booking is essential.
